Take control 'enhanced' motorcycle training
Take Control is a one-day practical motorcycle skills enhancement course that is available to motorcycle riders within West Mercia. This heavily subsidised road based training is supported by the Safer Roads Partnership and delivered by specially trained, Advanced Motorcycle Training Instructors. The course takes an adaptive approach per the needs of participants and can benefit both novice and experienced riders alike. Whilst Take Control cannot be classed as an advanced motorcycle training course, it is designed to enhance a riders skill and serves as a useful ‘bridge’ for riders to progress onward to formally accredited advanced training with IAM and/or RoSPA.
Take Control ‘enhanced’ motorcycle training was introduced a number of years ago to address the unacceptable number of motorcycle fatalities and serious injuries in the Worcestershire/West Mercia area. Take Control forms part of the broader ‘Think Bike’ agenda of improving both rider skills and driver awareness.
The Safer Roads Partnership is a West Mercia Police initiative and is supported by a further nine agencies, all with a vested interest in reducing motorcycle casualties and improving motorcycle road safety.
